Toronto Soccer Fans to Relaunch

The more observant among you may have noticed that Toronto Soccer Fans has been dormant for some time.
Various work/life changes have meant that there was insufficient time to keep this site updated to the extent that it deserved.

The Home game on Saturday was an opener in more ways than one. An Eye Opener. The passion of the crowd was fanstastic to see, and was reflected by most of the team. I am shortly relaunching this site as a suitable complement to that.

Jaime Peters rumours building

Wed 13th Dec, 2006 9:16am - rumour

The current name at the crest of TFC rumours is Jaime Peters, a youth Canadian international currently plying his trade in the UK

MoJo's announcement that he is getting close to signing a young Canadian player following his visit to Europe which included a visit to England, the rumour is building that Jaime Peters (Midfield - Ipswich Town) is that young prospect.

The Tractor Boys play in the Championship (England's second tier) and although this does not have the glamour of the Premiership there are still some hefty fees for poaching young talent which could still put things on hold. Peters has made 7 appearances for the first team, although at 5'7" he may be considered a bit lightweight for the physical style of the English leagues. Ipswich are also not performing well this season, at 16th in the table with 26 points from 22 games.

Peters is not unfamiliar with the coaching staff of Toronto FC, having played under Carmen Isacco in the Hearts-Toronto C.S Azzurri Soccer Club, although this sort of connection is not hard to make in the insular world of Canadian soccer. It is precisely this small-group mentality that may make this nothing more than wishful thinking of those who follow the youth game.

To see Jamie Peters in action, here's a youtube video of him playing against Brazil for the Canadian u20s, via the RPB forum.
