Toronto Soccer Fans to Relaunch

The more observant among you may have noticed that Toronto Soccer Fans has been dormant for some time.
Various work/life changes have meant that there was insufficient time to keep this site updated to the extent that it deserved.

The Home game on Saturday was an opener in more ways than one. An Eye Opener. The passion of the crowd was fanstastic to see, and was reflected by most of the team. I am shortly relaunching this site as a suitable complement to that.

Check back soon, and any suggestions can be sent via the contact form

Eskandarian trade to New York rumoured

Thu 11th Jan, 2007 12:45pm - rumour

Don't believe everything you read online, but there is a quiet murmur that Toronto FC may be negotiating some sort of deal with New York, using Alecko Eskandarian as a bargaining chip.

Dubious rumour of the day time. After he missed the US training camp this month without so much as a peep from anybody (injury was mooted, but nobody has come forward with an actual reason), there is a quiet rumour that Mo may be working a trade with Red Bull New York for Alecko Eskandarian.

I find it hard to imagine that the club would have gone to the effort of the trade with DC just for the purpose of a bargaining chip, but it is not out of the question in the weird climate of allocations and designated players that is the MLS trade market. There is also the possibility that the trade was done against Esky's wishes, and he is trying to engineer a move to his native New Jersey.

For now file this under "Not Likely", but with tomorrow's SuperDraft, there's no telling what Mo might have in the works. A rapid pre-draft trade for a better pick, or a prearranged pick by NY of a Canuck, for immediate post-draft trade? has it that similar is being lined up for Rod Dyachenko and possibly even Ritchie Kotschau, so as they say, Watch this space. My SuperDraft preview to follow later.
